Professional Status

I am an Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP Accred) and work in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.

I undertake regular clinical supervision and continuing professional development to ensure safe and ethical practice.

Nature of Counselling

Counselling is a collaborative therapeutic process designed to support emotional wellbeing, personal development, and mental health. Outcomes vary between individuals and depend on many factors, including engagement with the process.

While I aim to provide a professional and supportive service, no guarantees can be made regarding specific results or outcomes.

Counselling does not replace medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Clients are encouraged to consult their GP or other healthcare professional regarding medical or psychiatric concerns.

Working with Children and Young People:

For clients under 18:

  • Written consent from a parent or legal guardian is required before therapy begins.

  • The child or young person’s confidentiality will be respected.

  • Parents/guardians will receive general updates about attendance and progress where appropriate, but session content remains confidential unless safeguarding concerns arise.

The welfare of the child is always the primary consideration.

Confidentiality

All sessions are confidential except in the following circumstances:

  • Risk of serious harm to the client or others

  • Safeguarding concerns involving a child or vulnerable adult

  • Legal obligation (e.g., court order or statutory requirement)

  • Anonymous discussion within professional supervision

Where possible, confidentiality limits will be discussed with you before disclosure is made.

Appointments

Sessions last 60 minutes.

Appointments will be agreed in advance. Regular weekly sessions are recommended where possible to maintain therapeutic continuity.

Fees and Payment

The fee is £50 per 60-minute session and is due the day of session.

Payment methods accepted: bank transfer / cash / card.

Unpaid fees may result in suspension of future sessions until payment is received.

Cancellation Policy

A minimum of 24 hours’ notice is required to cancel or rearrange an appointment.

Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice, or missed appointments, will be charged at the full session fee (£50).

This policy applies to both online and in-person sessions.

If I need to cancel a session, as much notice as possible will be given and an alternative appointment offered.

Online Sessions

For online counselling:

  • Clients must ensure they are in a private and confidential space.

  • A stable internet connection and suitable device are required.

  • While secure platforms are used where possible, absolute confidentiality of online communications cannot be guaranteed.

If technical issues prevent continuation of the session, we will attempt to reconnect or reschedule as appropriate.

Contact Between Sessions

Contact between sessions is limited to practical matters such as appointment scheduling.
